Effects of Spousal Abuse

Being verbally or physically abused by a partner leaves a person feeling ashamed and powerless, often too afraid to disclose to an outsider what is going on.  An abused person often feels that if they just tolerate it long enough the situation will change, that this will be the last time.  The feeling of helplessness leaves you not knowing what to do next nor how to go about it, even if you could decide a course of action.

Become empowered and make a choice

Through counseling an individual can diminsh the feeling of helplessness and take control of his/her own life - become empowered and make a choice to deal more appropriately with the abusive situation.
