Teenager
Behaviour Problems
Thought
having young children was difficult? Try teenagers!
Emotional outbursts, outright defiance, sullen
moods, lies, requests for money, pushing the boundaries
re late nights, friends, alcohol. You ask yourself,
why? You would never have predicted this sort
of behaviour, not with the love and care you have
provided over the years and the good communication
you thought you had with this offspring.
They
are their own person
Teenagers are individuals trying to assert themselves
as such. Friends become much more important than
family, and mum and dad become the stereotypic
bore. Siblings are just a nuisance. Teenagers
have many emotions as they cope with school and
relationships and the stresses of a changing body.
They need to know that someone understands what
they are feeling. Their outbursts come from a
feeling that noone understands them or listens
to their point of view.
counseling
can help you have empathy with your teenager and
learn how to communicate that accurately, as well
as maintaining boundaries and rules.
