is committed to protecting your privacy and security of your personal data. All consultations will be conducted in a professional manner where privacy and confidentiality are assured. Please review our Professional Statement.

How long should I continue counseling?
Every case is different.  Some people will only need one or two sessions with the counselor.  Others may see a counselor on an ongoing basis. You need to discuss this with your counselor.

Do you do home visits?
Yes. There is an additional charge of AUD$120 for a home visit in Adelaide over and above the counseling charge to cover travelling time and transport costs to and from your home.

Can I pay for just one session and then convert that to a prepaid consultation plan later by paying more money later to make up the difference?
Generally, no. Once you have attended your first session, established a rapport with your counselor, and learned how Gosling International counselors can assist you, you will be in a good position to choose whether you want to pay at our standard rate or buy one of our prepaid professional counseling plans. If you purchase a prepaid plan at your first session, that session will be charged at the plan rate, otherwise we will charge you at our standard rate.

If I pay for a prepaid Consultation Plan A and later on decide I need more sessions, can I then pay more to extend to a Plan B, for example?
No, once you have purchased a prepaid plan, you cannot upgrade it to another plan.

Do you charge for cancellation of an appointment?
No. The only time we charge is if you have a scheduled appointment but Do Not Attend (DNA) at the agreed time. Gosling International will wait 15 minutes before attending to something else and you agree to pay for a 15-minute consultation at the agreed rate. PROVIDED ALWAYS that should there be good reason for your non-attendance, and you advise Gosling International of your inability to attend an appointment at least two hours before the agreed time, no fee will be charged.

Do you charge more for the session if my partner attends with me?
No. You pay for the counselor's time regardless of how many attend the session. Sometimes four or five people may attend a family session.

Do you charge for phone calls?
Gosling Internationals' counselors will provide up to 10 minutes of telephone consultations free of charge as part of our service to you. You agree to pay the full consultation fee, including the initial 10 minutes, at the standard or plan rate per hour pro rata for hours used or part thereof for telephone consultations that exceed 10 minutes duration.

Do you charge for report writing?
Gosling Internation will only write reports for clients when ordered by the competent courts of Australia to do so. Report writing is charged for the time taken to write the report at our standard rate per hour.

If I am on a prepaid plan and don't use all the sessions, can I get a refund?
Yes. Where a refund of a prepaid Consultation Plan is requested, consultations completed under any plan will be charged at the standard rate per hour and the balance of the plan refunded by Gosling International Pty Ltd cheque in AUD $s (US$ for international clients) made payable ONLY to the name appearing on the credit card voucher and mailed to the last advised postal address. This is to protect your payment and to ensure there is no confusion with your credit card provider where a refund (charge back) is requested.

If I am on a prepaid plan and don't use all the sessions, can I donate the balance to a friend?
Provided we have written authority from you, we allow your friend to use the balance of your plan hours. The session will be invoiced to your account and your friend's name will appear on the invoice.

Can I claim the fees I pay for counseling on my medical insurance?
In many cases, yes. We have many clients whose claims have been paid by their insurance companies. We sign your insurance forms as a mental heath professional. So submit your Gosling International invoice/receipt with your claim form. Some insurance companies however, won't pay unless your therapist is:

  1. On their approved list of practitioners.
  2. Not a registered psychologist.

So check with your insurance company prior to starting counseling with Goslings to see if they will accept claims for charges by our counselors.

Who benefits most from email counseling?
Email counseling benefits people who:

  • want anonymity
  • live at a distance from a
  • do not have time to go to a face-to-face session
  • do not want to be tied to a specific appointment time
  • find it easier to prepare thoughts in written words rather than speaking
  • can't sleep at night and need to communicate their thoughts to a counselor before settling down

How does email counseling actually help?
Like face-to-face counseling, email counseling provides an opportunity to be heard and understood without judgement.  A person can gain insights into his/her individual situation through interactions with the counselor.  Often a relationship develops between an individual and his/her counselor, whether by e-mail or chat room, and a client feels safe to disclose additional troubling issues that may be causing distress.  This often leads to increased self-awareness and the clients taking more control of their lives.
